STEM Education
The STEM Program at the Memphis School of Excellence will inspire innovation, foster critical thinking, and cultivate leadership and problem-solving skills through relevant interdisciplinary learning experiences that effectively prepare students for their preferred choice of post-secondary pathway, in order to promote community and global citizenship though science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
All of our campuses strive to offer students the opportunity to participate in STEM-related both in and out of the classroom. In addition to exciting STEM extracurriculars like underwater robotics, 3-D printing, and drone club, our teachers regularly implement PBLs in classrooms to give students hands on experience. During the 2021-2022 school year, students have worked on a variety of PBLs and experienced multiple in-school STEM-learning activities. These activities have been made possible with the support of our community partners. Community partners for 21-22 include: St. Jude's, West TN Cancer Clinic, NASA, Refugee Empowerment Group, the City of Memphis, Medtronic, and the Wolf River Conservatory.
